What's The Difference Between Portion Size And Serving Size?
Most people mistake portion size for serving size. So, what's the difference? Portion size is the amount you choose to put on your plate.
Serving size is a standard measurement of food such as a cup or an ounce. For example, bagels are often sold in sizes that constitute at least 2 servings, but most people eat the whole thing, thinking they have eaten one serving. When buying food, it's important to check the nutrition label for serving size. Many times manufacturers will list unusually small serving sizes so their product appears to have fewer calories and fat. Don't be deceived. Read your labels!
