For years the chemical BPA has been used in clear plastic bottles and food-can liners. Almost all canned foods have BPA. Even organic canned foods have it. The debate about BPA revolves around what is a safe level of the chemical to ingest and whether it should be in contact with food. Canada has restricted the use of BPA. The European Union has banned BPA entirely. Until the FDA gets its' act together in deciding what is a safe level of exposure to BPA, you may want to reduce your consumption of canned foods.
