When researchers asked people detailed questions about a short film they had just seen, those who were instructed to close their eyes during the Question and Answer correctly answered 23% more queries than those told to keep their eyes open.
"Closing your eyes lowers your brain's cognitive load by blocking out distractions, which helps you focus on the task of remembering." says lead study author Robert Nash.

Doodling Improves Your Memory!

Remember doodling in school? British researchers have found that doodling, that drawing and scribbling, may just help improve your memory. Their study consisted of people listening to a boring telephone message. They found that people who doodled while listening to the message recalled 30% more of the message than the non doodlers. Their theory is that non-doodlers daydreamed more while doodlers stayed more focused.
So, the next time you're stuck in that boring meeting or class, doodle! You may just be doing your memory a favor.
